I would like to register for the following AIPPI UK event:
4 March 2013 (6pm)
Workshops on Questions for AIPPI ExCo, Helsinki 2013
Venue: Bird & Bird (15 New Fetter Lane, London, EC4A)
AIPPI has now published the Resolutions passed at its 2012 Congress
in Seoul, and announced the questions that will be put to the ExCo
in Helsinki, 5 - 11 September 2013.
The Questions for this year are as follows:
Q233
Grace Period for Patents (led by Daniel Brook)
Q234
Relevant public for determining the degree of recognition of famous
marks, well-known marks and marks with a reputation (led by
Trevor Cook)
Q235
Term of Copyright Protection (led by Ashley Roughton and Sara
Ashby)
Q236
Relief in IP proceedings other than injunctions or damages (led
by Justin Watts and Richard Vary)
The links above take you to the working guidelines for each question.
The launch meeting will briefly introduce the questions, before
splitting into separate workshops on each question. The workshops
will analyse, discuss the main points each question raises for UK
practitioners, consider proposals for harmonisation and reform,
and plan the further preparation of the UK response.
Please register below via EventBrite under the question on which
you wish to participate. If you cannot come on 4 March but would
want to participate in the further work on them, please contact
secretary@aippi.org.uk
or the question leader, and let them know.
The launch meeting is free, will carry 1.5hrs CPD points (SRA accredited),
and is open to members and non-members. Continued involvement after
that will be limited to members, or those with pending applications
for membership.
Members (including new members) who were 35 or younger on 1 January
2010 and who participate in the preparation of the Questions may
wish to note that they are eligible for consideration for the annual
AIPPI UK prize for the best contribution to a Question by an eligible
member of the group. The prize is worth up to £3,000 in attendance,
travel and accommodation fees for attendance at the AIPPI Congress,
and £300 in book tokens.
